My interest in printmaking evolved after achieving an A-Level in Art as a mature student in 2005.
Soon after, I discovered the Curwen Print Study Centre
where I had the ability to indulge in a variety of printmaking techniques. My work is mostly created without a plan.
It intrigues me to see a particular project develop as I go along. I enjoy abstract as much as figurative. Colours are
very important to me and are a real indication of my state of mind.
I am taken back by the art of letterpress and have the urge to discover more on this subject. At the moment I am working
on letterpress posters/cards hand pulled, “the old fashioned way”, on a proofing press in my own garden studio. I am
also a collector of anything that involves letterpress, from Adana presses to the wide ranges of lead type, woodblock
and clichés still out there.
For our upcoming Inkus exhibition, 'In Ink',
I am working on a series of monoprints with nature and its movement in mind. The aim
is that the finished work blends in naturally with the outdoors. With outdoor art becoming more popular in the UK
(..flown over from the continent!) my work will fit in well in that category.
